ALISON LOCRICCHIO

Illustration Lead for The Good Advice Cupcake

Alison Locricchio (she/her) has been an Illustrator at the Animation Lab since 2018. When she saw Toy Story 3 in the movie theater, it made her realize how cool it was that people do animation for a living. As she’s developed her own style, Alison draws inspiration from 1950s design and illustration, specifically UPA’s flat, modern, and abstract look; the way they represent objects and feelings through simple shapes and limited color palettes grabs her attention and influences her. Alison’s hope is that her creative work inspires others to develop really niche, specific interests and take them on as passionately and obsessively as they desire. She believes that weird quirks make us unique, and as artists, we have the rare opportunity to turn those interests into anything we want. At the Lab, she creates drawings and assets for The Good Advice Cupcake’s social media posts and merchandise designs. Her favorite things about her role are the high levels of creative freedom and working with such talented, kind, and funny people everyday.

Alison’s advice for aspiring animators is, “Nurture your intensity for what you care about the most. You will never make bad art that way, because it's fully yours.”

From Michigan, Alison currently lives in Los Angeles, California. Her favorite thing about LA is the number of concerts she gets to indulge in. She believes money is fake, but Harry Styles and BTS are forever.
